The Good Old Summer Time!

I am so excited the warmer weather is finally here!  We have had our share of clouds and rain in the last few days, but the sun is returning today.  Summer makes me think of sweet tea, watermelon, cook-outs, picnics and shorts, ok maybe capris, the old legs aren't what they use to be.  Summer in the South, you can't beat it.   This would be a great day to hang by a lazy river!

Happy Fourth of July!!

Anybody grilling out for the 4th of July? I had to share this wonderful recipe I grew up on from my mom! Take a whole chicken cut it in half, this goes on the grill. When the chicken is almost done, baste with this yummy sauce. On the stove cook about 3 cups cider vinegar, juice of two lemons and then add the lemon slices, 2 tablespoons butter, several shakes of tabasco, salt and pepper. Cook sauce till boiling, then baste chick on the grill with a lot of the sauce. If you are a vinegar lover like me, it is soooo good! Thanks mom!

Happy fourth!

Tailgate time!

It's almost fall, there is crisp air outside and football on the tube!  It must be tailgate time! Even if you are not a big fan of the game, throwing a fall get-together with finger foods can't be wrong!

Barn Dance

BARN DANCE

Style me pretty.com

Fall is my favorite time of the year!  So much excitement ahead for all the holidays and cooler weather! I love the idea of having a party that is simple to plan (as simple as a party can be) and also comfortable and relaxed for your guest!  I can't think of a better party for the fall than a harvest barn dance.  It could even be underneath the full orange moon! Find a great barn or space in your backyard for the party.  You could even just use a gazebo you already have or put up a tailgate tent!  The guest can spill over onto the grass with their two stepping!  I love the idea of hay bales for seats and old quilts on the ground for some of the seating.  Use burlap for tablecloths and pots of beautiful fall flowers for centerpieces.

I love the ideas below:
1. Decorate with pumpkins and gourds.
2. Love the apple candles in the big tin tub for decorating. (via martha stewart.com)
3. Barn Dance Invite (via Lemon Lizard)
4. Have hand fans for the guest if it is still a little warm. (via martha stewart weddings.com
5. Have a big plate of cookies for your guests to take home with thank you bags. (via style me pretty.com)

Spring Saturday!

The sun is shining, the birds are busy and the time is changing, it must mean spring can't be far behind!
I love spring and all the activity of things coming out of their sleep and reemerging.  It has been quiet and dark and now the plants can appear and show their sweet faces!  In honor of this renewal I have found some fabulous finds on Etsy to share with you.  Happy Spring!
